“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19).

This command is a call for every believer, not just those on mission trips, to carry the love and message of Jesus wherever we go. Over the past few weeks in Eswatini, I’ve seen this command come alive through the work we have been doing at the care points. Each day has shown me how God’s heart for the nations is reflected in the joy, laughter, and faith of the children we have the opportunity to serve.

What Happens at the Care Point

The care point is a place where children come not just to be fed physically but spiritually too.  Every day, we spend time with these children sharing the gospel in new and different ways. Sometimes through simple conversation and other times through songs and skits. Some of my favorite skits include David and Goliath, Peter walking on water, and Jesus feeding the five thousand. Watching the kids’ faces light up as they learn about God’s power and love is a highlight of my time here.

Beyond the skits, we talk to the children about the love of Jesus in simple but profound ways. Recently, we taught them “Joy to the World,” which they’ll sing to their “special friends.” A special friend is a sponsor—someone who provides both financial support and spiritual encouragement through letters. Child sponsorship is a tangible way to answer God’s call to “go and make disciples.” For just $45 a month, sponsorship provides nutritious food, clean water, and access to discipleship opportunities that ripple through entire families and communities. It’s not just about meeting immediate needs, it’s about building a foundation for long-term transformation in these children’s lives and those around them.

I had the opportunity to watch the kids write letters to their sponsors with excitement and gratitude. However, what really touched me was how much joy they felt when reading the letters they received in return.

These letters don’t just provide encouragement; they remind the kids that someone far away cares for them and is praying for them. I saw how much these words mean to them, and it made me think of how important it is to be intentional in sharing God’s love—whether it’s through words, actions, or simply showing up for people.

If you feel led, you can sponsor a child at my care point through this link: Sponsor a Child. It’s an incredible way to be part of ongoing ministry, even from home.

Cross-culture Ministry in Eswatini

Eswatini has a culture unlike anything I’ve experienced before. The people here are so warm and relational, valuing connection over everything else. It’s such a beautiful contrast to the fast-paced, task-driven culture I’m used to at home.

Of course, there have been challenges too. The language barrier has made it difficult at times to communicate fully. However, despite language barriers, we’ve learned to communicate through actions, simple words, and the universal language of love. When we’ve had a translator, it’s been incredible to dive deeper into conversations about Jesus.

Through it all,  I’ve realized the importance of contextualizing the Gospel. It’s not about forcing our way of doing things but meeting people where they are. Whether it’s learning a few words in Swati or adapting our Bible stories to make them more relatable, every effort counts in making the Gospel understandable and meaningful.

Ongoing Ministry

While my time here in Eswatini is temporary, the call to ministry is not. World evangelism doesn’t end when we return home—it continues in our communities, workplaces, and relationships. Yet, opportunities like child sponsorship remind us that we can also make a lasting impact on unreached places from thousands of miles away.

Through your letters and support, you can disciple children who might one day share the Gospel with others in their community. Your words carry more significance than you realize, planting seeds of faith that can grow and multiply.

If you’re unable to sponsor a child, I encourage you to consider other ways to support missions, whether through prayer, financial gifts, or volunteering locally. Every act of obedience to God’s call has the potential to change lives for eternity.

Eswatini has shown me the beauty of obedience to God and his call to “make disciples of all nations.” From skits and songs to meals and conversations, I’ve seen the power of love and faith in action. And while the task of world evangelism remains unfinished, we each have a role to play.

This experience has been a reminder to me that obedience to God’s call can look different for everyone. Some are called to go, others to give, and others to pray. Each role is important, and together, they create a ripple effect that can impact generations. Together, we can carry the light of Christ to the darkest corners of the world, fulfilling the Great Commission one step at a time.

Thank you for your prayers, support, and love. Together, we’re being the hands and feet of Christ and making a difference—one child, one meal, one story at a time. I hope this gives you a glimpse of what life is like in Eswatini and how God is working through this ministry.

Please continue to pray for the children, the care points, and the families we’re serving. I can’t wait to share more with you soon.

With love,
Faith <3
